Veneration’s Activities and Initiatives Include:

Veneration is working on launching a mobile housing resource clinic in Brooklyn. The clinic will support informed, proactive housing decisions and transitions by bringing together local specialists in elder law, financial planning, health care, real estate, and psycho-social counseling to create specially tailored, integrated plans. As we pilot the the clinic model, we’ll explore how we can replicate it on-line. Find out more!  Visit our Housing Clinic page here.

Some exciting new models of Senior housing have emerged in the last decade – like the Village Model and Cohousing Models.

We’re developing an idea for a new appropriate housing model tailored to the communities heavy with multi-family homes such as the ubiquitous Brooklyn Brownstone.

It’s an intergenerational cohousing model designed to encompass the entire building (2-4 units) to support and subsidize low income senior homeowners to age in place.

Over the next two years (2013-2014) we’ll be developing and piloting this model in Brooklyn.

In July 2011, Veneration  co-hosted our first aging resource workshop in Brooklyn, New York. A panel of leading local elder law attorneys presented legal, financial, ethical, and emotional aspects of health care planning, including living wills and advance directives. We are now collaborating with local organizations to create a comprehensive curriculum of workshops about legal, financial, social and emotional aspects of aging. Visit our Community Workshops Page here.

Veneration Corps is a college internship program designed to expose students to career tracks and entrepreneurial opportunities responding to the aging population, while supporting agencies, non-profits, and businesses serving New York’s seniors.
