Almost three years ago, when the Veneration Project was just getting started, I read an article in the local paper about Beverly Emmons. A neighbor in Fort Greene, Beverly was trying to kickstart a community effort to enable Seniors to age in place. Beverly’s approach was based on the successful Village Model, which facilitates everything from basic home maintenance to transportation to doctor’s appointments to cultural outings for an annual fee.

Nicknamed the Geezer Project, this initiative has gained momentum in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill and is finally ready to be launched. There was an impressive turnout at the kickoff meeting last week.
